In the Summer edition of NoISe we spoke about the challenges NCBA is facing with regards to securing enough funding to enable us to continue to provide service to blind and partially sighted people living in Northumberland.

As a charity we receive no financial support from the County Council or Health Service; every penny we need is raised by our staff, volunteers and customers.  We’re pleased and relieved to report that since the last edition of the NoISe sufficient funding has been secured to support our work until the end of March 2020.

We have also received a very generous donation of £1,000 from Railway Medical Group to support this and future editions of the NoISe.  Dr McEvedy, a senior partner said: ‘We are very happy to support NCBA, we feel that they provide a much needed service and we are very disappointed that their lottery funding came to an end.  We have a number of blind and partially sighted patients who depend on help from others, as a practice we felt a donation from ourselves was completely warranted’.

So yes, its great news that we are able to continue for the remainder of this financial year but we do need to work really hard raising funds to maintain our services from April 2020.

PLEASE: all help - every single penny is needed to secure our future.  Do contact us if you have any ideas, big or small or if you would like to simply make a donation to enable us to continue to provide much needed services to blind and partially sighted people in Northumberland.

The team can be contacted via email info@ncba.org.uk or by calling 01670 514 316.

And finally, a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us since we last wrote to you.

The Trustees.
