Being diagnosed with sight loss can leave you worrying about coping with everyday tasks. You may be afraid of losing your independence and the quality of your life, but there are now plenty of solutions available to help.
Vision Northumberland’s Low Vision Assessment Service can support you to access the growing range of low vision aids and equipment that can assist you in navigating your new reality; providing advice, ordering and demonstrations. We also have a stock of pre-owned equipment available.

Magnifiers
Used for increasing the size of text and images, we offer a variety of magnifiers such as illuminated handheld, pocket, dome and bar magnifiers. It is important to get the correct strength and type of magnifier for your needs.
Electronic magnifiers
As well as being able to change magnification size easily, you can also alter colour contrast. Screens come in various sizes 4" - 22".
Anti-glare glasses
Perfect to protect your eyes from glare. They come in a variety of tints designed to suit your specific eye condition.
Lighting
Suitable lighting is important for helping to make the best use of your vision. We offer a collection of both table and floor lighting solutions.
Talking clocks and watches
Specially designed to audibly announce the time, date and other relevant information in a clear and understandable voice.
Liquid Level Indicator
A small portable device that beeps and vibrates to stop you from over filling your cup.
Bump ons
Small rubber, stick on pads for marking equipment such as the controls on you cooker or microwave.
Talking scales with measuring jug
This easy to use set can measure both wet and dry ingredients.
