Trustees
Vision Northumberland's Board of Trustees help steer the charity’s direction and decisions, working closely with staff and meeting regularly throughout the year to shape strategies and policies that support every part of the organisation.
Sue Taylor - Chair of the Board
With 30+ years of unwavering dedication, Sue has been a passionate advocate for vision-impaired individuals, working within the Voluntary Sector to develop and deliver vital services that empower and uplift.
Since retiring, Sue continues to lend her time, expertise, and energy to a range of charitable organisations, including Vision Northumberland.
Alistair Wade - Treasurer
Following a successful career within the paper and packaging industry, Alistair uses his experience in income generation, management and finance to support and strengthen the organisation.
Since retirement, Alistair has been involved in various community organisations and is also a Trustee of a community transport charity.
Geoff Bushall - Secretary
Geoff's began his career as a Project Engineer working on substations and power generation in the Middle East. He later moved into project and maintenance management in pharmaceutical research.
In addition to voluntary work for Vision Northumberland, Geoff is also an active member and Trustee of Morpeth Lions Club.
Mala Janes - Trustee
A teacher for most of her working life, Mala left teaching to become a social worker, working as a Placement Reviewing Officer for adults with learning disabilities. In 2001, Mala took early retirement and moved to the North East to be near family.
Mala experienced a sight affecting stroke in 2014 which led her to the doors of Vision Northumberland and wanting to help other visually impaired people.
Jack Moffat - Trustee
Jack is very familiar with the sight loss sector having volunteered for 9 years before finding full time employment as the North East Engagement Manager for the sight loss charity Thomas Pocklington Trust.
Jack is registered as severely sight impaired/blind so this work is extremely close to his heart. ‘Vision Northumberland as an organisation have always supported me. It is a huge privilege to be a trustee’.
Julie Leddy - Trustee
Julie has worked in Adult Social Care for over 30 years, starting as a Support Worker and working her way up the career ladder to management positions.
Julie is now Operational Lead for Safe & Resilient Communities which aims to support both residents and VCSE ; joining partners together with one goal - enabling stronger communities.
